The Society offers the following awards and prizes:
- The Award Scheme supports research by new scholars (postgraduate students and those who have completed a doctorate within the last five years) as well as development projects of a wider interest. The scheme is not restricted to projects based in the UK and applications may be made between 1 March and 31 May every year.
- The Partington Prize, awarded every three years for an original essay by a new scholar on any aspect of the history of alchemy and chemistry
- The John and Martha Morris Award, which is also made every three years, for outstanding achievement in the history of modern chemistry or the history of the chemical industry.
- The Rumford Scholarship, jointly with the Chemical Heritage Foundation, to support research by North Americans in Europe.

The Society also supports a range of activities, including seminars, conferences, lectures and exhibitions, through the Development Fund.
